Ray Grasshoff is an editor, proofreader, writer, and author living in Austin, Texas.

He specializes in editing reports and other documents and writing news releases, fact sheets, position papers, op-eds, reports, speeches, and similar items, as well as proofreading transcripts, primarily for court reporters.

Successfully self-employed since 2007, Ray previously was a public information officer at four State of Texas agencies – the Railroad Commission of Texas, the Texas Water Development Board, the Texas Department of Health’s Bureau of Radiation Control, and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board – over more than 27 years.

Prior to employment with the State of Texas, Ray was the editor of a small-town weekly newspaper for two years.

Over the past 30-plus years, he's written dozens of freelance articles, primarily on science, history, and travel topics. More recently, he wrote two books one about 19th century
German immigrants to America (Man of Two Worlds: A German Family Confronts the American Dream, 2009) and the other about the college football recruiting process (Beyond Friday Nights: College Football Recruiting for Players and Parents, 2010). He's also published a photographic study of doorknocker art in Italian cities (Doorknocker Art: The Italian Battiporta, 2014).

Ray has a journalism degree from Texas A&M University.
